"Season of Service: Volunteer Voices Spotlight "
Come join us for a special volunteer panel to highlight some opportunities for you and your team to get involved in community outreach. We will have speakers from the following organizations who will share ways to make an impact.
The Beacon Project:
At The Beacon Project we're dedicated to nurturing the holistic development of high school teens living at or below the poverty level. Our mission revolves around offering economic relief through our free supplemental food and resource programs. We understand the many challenges and transitions that teens face during their high school journey, which is why we prioritize discretion to safeguard the dignity and privacy of every teen we serve.
Our organization emerged in direct response to the increasing number of at-risk teens who often slip through the cracks at school or find themselves grappling with overwhelming challenges. Many of these young individuals lose hope in the face of chronic hunger, poverty, and other hardships that permeate their daily lives. The Beacon Project aims to identify these vulnerable teens and provide them with the support they need to navigate high school successfully, reducing the risks that could derail their futures.
South Central CASA:
The mission of South Central CASA of Oklahoma, Inc. is to recruit, screen, train, and support members of the community to advocate for the best interests of children who have been made wards of the court in Cleveland, McClain, and Garvin Counties.
CASA volunteers are appointed by judges to watch over and speak up for abused and neglected children to make sure they don’t get lost in the overburdened legal and social service systems or languish in the foster care system. CASA volunteers stay with each child until he or she is placed in a safe, permanent home and the case is closed. For many abused children, their CASA volunteer is the one constant in their lives and often, the one adult who cares only for them.
Positive Tomorrows:
We partner with families experiencing homelessness to educate their children and create pathways to success.
In practice, this can be more complex – determining a family and student’s needs, developing custom education plans, and supporting parents so they can create stability for their family. At the end of the year, we’re able to measure real success in our educational programs, our after-school programs, and our family support measures. During the 2024-25 school year, our services contributed to improving the situations of 191 families, collectively equaling more than 697 individuals.
Dress for Success:
Our purpose is to offer long-lasting solutions that enable women to break the cycle of poverty. Dress for Success is part of a global movement for change, empowering women to obtain safer and better futures.
We provide each client with professional attire to secure employment, but we are about much more than simply a new outfit. Besides physically equipping the client with apparel and accessories, our programs furnish her with a confidence that she carries forever and the knowledge that she can actively define her life, the direction she takes and what success means to her.
A special Holiday lunch will be served.
