"People Are Part of the Process: An HR Diagnostic Framework"
Workplace challenges are often quickly labeled as either “people problems” or “process problems.” In reality, people and systems continuously influence one another, and the problem we see isn't always the problem we need to solve.
In People Are Part of the Process, HR professionals will learn a practical framework for looking beyond visible symptoms and evaluating workplace challenges through three interconnected lenses: People, Systems, & Strategy. Using relatable HR scenarios and an ongoing road and driving metaphor, participants will explore how employee and manager behavior, recurring workarounds, communication breakdowns, bottlenecks, and inconsistent performance can provide valuable information about the larger organizational environment.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to:
- Differentiate among People, Systems, & Strategy factors when evaluating workplace challenges rather than responding only to visible behaviors or symptoms.
- Use patterns in employee and manager behavior as diagnostic information to identify potential gaps in capability, accountability, workflow, communication, or strategic clarity.
- Determine an appropriate HR response by evaluating what they can directly control, what they can influence through managing up, and what they must help the organization navigate.
