" Workers' Compensation Insurance Fraud "
Brief Summary:
Human Resources and Workers’ Compensation go hand-in-hand with one another as HR professionals are in the forefront when it comes to filing claims, acquiring the right policy, or dealing with potential fraud. The purpose of this presentation is to impart a better understanding of the Workers’ Compensation and Insurance Fraud Unit (WCIFU), with the intention of providing knowledge for successful investigations and prosecutions, while setting realistic expectations. The presentation will go over state statutes on authority, protections, statute of limitations, disclosures, and obligations to report, including when, how, and to whom. The presentation will review the mandate, purview, and functions of the WCIFU, as well as what the Unit looks for throughout the investigative process. Furthermore, the presentation will touch on jurisdiction, broaching the topic of McGirt and the limitations that were set forth, along with the challenges and trends that are currently observed.
